Quick report for January 27th 2007
« Reply #1 on: January 27, 2007, 02:47:43 PM »

Brrrrr...it was cold and windy today!!!!

Got down to Browne road today and gave it all I got. Tried roe, roebag, jensen eggs and pink worm. Not a single bite nor did I see anyone with any fish on. The water condition was excellent but the wind was nasty.

Did anyone make any contact with those elusive fish today???

Around 11:00 the wind almost stopped, so basically it is a nice day.

Nice fish Bruce, it seems like you should be taking me fishing one of these days. ;)

Folks, I just merged the two Vedder reports from today together. You are all encouraged to post the reports (some very good ones lately). Lets check if a report for a particular system on a particular day already exists or not, so we don't duplicate any daily reports (unless you're writing a journal-style report that stands out like Chris'), this would make it easier for readers to follow. Thank you. :)

Thanks Bruce, but first I have to fly back from Denmark, which will be a bit more than a week from now. Will keep Saturday in mind for future outings. :) Take care.

Well jan 27 07 Went up to the top. Vasibility was very good, a little too clear for my likings. Fished there till 1 with no take downs. SO we decided to head down river. Got to "Gravel Chunk Run" and found there was 2 guys already fishing it. So we decided to go to the run below them. Had a jenson with peach wool with no luck as the vis got worse. Ended up about 1.5 - 2 feet where we were at. Anyways the guys leave the whole so I work my way down first to the tailout. Drennan cruisin along nice and stealthy.... but nadda. So Im walking up to the "Gravel Chunk Run" and come across to a little pink worm in the water. I totally forgot about the worms, So When i get to the run I plop one of the juicy wormies on and start to cast away. The drennan floats perfectly along the ripples but with no fish to show. So next time I let it swing into shore a little closer and the drennan goes for a dive. I set the hook to feel tension on the other side. But it quickly comes slack. So I leave that little spot for awhile and go back to the deeper stuff.

So its now been about 5-10 mins since I last got that take down so I decide its time to try again. I cast out just on the edge of the ripples and swing it in close to shore. Perfectly right where I had the take down. Im thinking to myself "Right around here" Then all of a sudden the drennan goes for another dive. This time i'm quick on my feet and set the hook hard. STEELIE ON!!!!! The fish has no time to do headshakes but take of screaming out the tailout. I signal to my dad that I got one on. He comes runnin down as im keepin the ghost in the pool. I get the beauty over a nice little ridge and into some slack water where I can land it perfectly. It goes for a couple more runs as I try to keep it in its new pool.

5 Mins later and the nice Wild doe is into my hands:D:D:D First steelie for me!! and im smiling like theres no tomorrow.
