Headed out this morning in seach of some cutthroat with a buddy. We had a nice hike and got to our spot. Not long after casting my line I get into a fish. A brief fight and lost. My partner gets a fish on and lands a nice 14'' fish just a beauty. I would end up hooking 2 more and losing them while my partner lands a total of 3 fish and lost a couple as well. My last fish I hook up I land and feel great.

Now this is the first time using my new Optio W20 underwater so this is not the best picture. I will get better with it as I get more opportunities. Wish I got his whole head in the picture though

I only flyfish for cutts. Dont find bait fishing for them a challenge or a fight. I was using pretty much everything. I would use one pattern for about 15 mins and if nothing I would switch. When I hit a fish I would continue using that pattern for another 15mins and if no more bites I would switch. I used some attractor patterns, flesh patterns and mickey finns mostly oh and a couple muddlers. These fish were sure spunky, jumping and splashing everytime.

BB....hurry up and become an expert with your camera, then you can teach me with mine.  The camera instruction book that it comes with is as thick as some my old university text books.  And I hate reading instruction manuals!!

I should have been able to take my first fish photo with mine today if I hadn't left behind in the car.  Not the smartest thing to do for what they cost.

It'll be intersting to see how the underwater videos turn out.  Can't wait to try it out on the lakes catching and releasing fish. I think it might work out better than doing it on the rivers.

I skimmed the book. I am not much into the instruction manuals either so I skimmed through the important parts. One thing it does say is dont use it in moving current so make sure to avoid that at all costs. I got some pointers already so I will try again in a couple weeks and post again.

I'm just starting to fly fish and I was wondering what river systems produce cutthroat right now?  alouette? stave?

I was thinking of heading out sometime after I get a few more fly lessons.
