Is it just me...or has anyone else noticed the following....

1. The propensity of forum members to photo document their fishing trip (not that there is anything wrong with that) and then go and post EXACTLY where they were fishing...so much for everyone else that wants to fish that spot now and again while passing through and changing spots....

2. The fishing reports page is now filled with people on threads commenting on photos saying "Nice fish", "Way to go" etc etc etc.

Now, I suspect my observations are going to irk more than just a few forum members if not the moderators into deleting my post because it's of a "critical" nature...but I'd much like to see Gadsden's journals more often.

Gadsden's report lament the experience and genuine appreciation of the resource---and a learning experience everytime he goes out fishing---with a reflection on the trip and the joys of having gone.

I don't know about you..but I'd love to see more people challenging themselves to be a better angler, reporting the techniques they used, and where they may have fished away from the usual spots...as opposed to a few forum members over running the fishing reports page with the standard fare "There are fish there, and I found 'em...but I blew it...or look at me whining because I caught a wild"

Overall, it'd be nice to see people reporting constructive information than just posting a photodocumentary of fishing some meathole that a few dozen anglers ply everyday. 

Just a few thoughts, but some of these reports would be like "I caught a whackload of springs off the wall at Bamfield during the last week of August"and then posting the meat shots of dead springs on the deck..... like...DUH...obviously!!!!

Rather, a better idea would be... "We were fishing the wall at Bamfield and were having a tough time catching fish---noticing that the odd fish was hooked, but of the 100 boats, we did exceptionally well because we....................................................... and .......................................... while we fished at __________________________- depth because we noticed _________________ . Then we told ________________________ and _____________ boats to try what we were doing and they started slamming 'em too.  It was a day to remember because we learned these new things and we'll apply it again to next year.....

I'm not saying you guys shouldn't post pics and have fun, that's fine, but posting for the sake of posting is turning some of the website into pablum....

i think it's just you.  i'm new here but i like seeing the photos of people who actually caught fish.  i don't blame people for not wanting to post how they caught them or where they caught them.

You would be surprised how many people on this site don't like reading long winded reports, I like it when it is to the point , a couple of nice pics and some nice responses.. good nuff !! but to each his own

I know what you mean and I am sure their are others thinking the same thing but everybody likes something different you can't please everybody I like pic's

I agree with you Magician 100% Another thing that I would like to see change is the quality of the fish pics being posted. What's wrong with killing your hatchery fish after the pic has been taken? Dead fish pics, espicially with blood, do not look good.

What I do like is the amount of people posting reports on water conditions. This is much more helpful than telling everyone exactly which rock you were standing on when you caught your fish.

I agree with you FM, I find that some of the conversations between, um how did you put it Nuggy, some of the "younger members" would be suited better for a couple of buddies over the telephone or in the hall at school.

And I find nothing more irritating than to be off the web site for a couple of days, read a 2 or 3 page report and get nothing more out of the 3 pages than a pic of a dead fish...our VP of marketing said it in a meeting today...CONTENT IS KING.  I think we all need to tak a little more responsibility in terms of the quality of our posts etc.  But hey, thats just my opinion

I totally agree as well. I like to read a bit of a story as well as seeing some pics. Makes it so much more enjoyable to read. Just seeing a guy posing with a fish and one sentence to go along with it doesnt do much for me. I can see pics of fish anywhere on the internet. Seeing the pics of the fish as well as soe scenic pics is also nice. Put that together with a well thought out story is killer IMO. Their is always a story so why not share it. Dont need to add location to the story if you dont want to just give us something so we are at the edge of our seat or make us feel as if we were there.

Completley agree here, I don't ever bother to post reports these days unless I have time to write something of substance, which these days isn't all that often. I have to admit that these days I've been pretty jaded by the quality of posts around here latley. It seems that most of the content is either firendly banter between members or its somebody getting into an argument with Fishfreak, subsequently getting the thread locked. What ever happened to journal style reports, tutorials or even well thought out disscussion.

Like I said content is king...glad to see there are more than just a few people here that agree. 

And Derp, we are all intitled to our own opinions, your remark is only meant to antogonize.  You know, the type of responses you post here will flavour how other community members treat you...feel free to be antagonistic, but don't expect to get much help when you have a question etc.  I did my time here getting all fired up when someone was trying to bait me, I think most of us are beyond that now so, thank you for your "contribution" to the community.

Don't think you should be flamed or deleted...just wonder why we all should have to really give a damn about what you or your friends think are correct??? Why is it that I read that so much class distinction on your canadian websites?

What I would really like to know is why you always want to criticize so much instead of writing about your own experiences in your own way and trying to change someones perception that way??? ( insert your own name here if the shoe fits, and yup I'm guilty of it too...but then I fly fish AND gear fish so I'm a halfbreed and obviously have no class at all )...
