Kawkawa March-25
« on: March 25, 2007, 07:02:01 PM »

After the great fishing last weekend we headed back out for some kokanee action, arrived at 9am , around 10am I hooked my first kokanee which came off after a few summersaults. A few minutes later and I managed to land one, then the action died right off. Just before we left around 3 I caught a coho and missed one more kokanee. Alot different from last weekend, they were hardly surfacing at all today. Lots of FWR members out there today, curious to see how everyone made out? The only other fish I saw landed all day was caught by someone aboard "the masters" boat.

Lucky, do you remember when we got beaten by that lake last year? ;)

Here's a reminder:

Lucky - I was the guy out there on the small aluminum Harborcraft flyfisher. I brought two kokanee to the boat that was it for me - I left just after 11:00am

It will be hard to forget the skunking we took on the lake last year, although I think that Ive redeemed myself this year having connected with fish on both outings. The problem last year is that I left the fly gear at home :-\

I was out there with Norm today, good to see lots of FWR members out there ! great weather !! I got four fish on today and 0 to the boat  :-\ Norm had only one hit and he managed to land a nice 13" Kokanee which we released to entertain another angler ! if we had managed a few more I imagine we would have kept that one but hey ...... what good is 1/2 pound of fish ?? I tried changing up my fly five or six times and all my hits came on red doc spratley's.. Norm's fish came on his favourite ... pots n pans and a spinner !!

I was out there Britguy, but I'm the guy on that little aluminum jon boat. The guy with BSteel on the tubes is FishFreak.

I was out in the Blue Waterskeeter pontoon boat with the electric motor. Not a sniff for me. I left at two to check out a few other lakes and rivers but nothing worth fishing.

Good - it looks like it's picking up again.

BTW - the rain seems to have played havoc with your spelling.

verry slow
water temp was 7deg then got up to 10 deg
breezy at first then real calm arround 10am
Not many fish rising
I tried floating and sinking line cheronos to red leech but only had two hits on a dry fly trolled just below surface
lots of fish on the bottom at arround 9-13 meters down(fish finder)
no one else got any that i seen
i left at 12.30 and headed to Rolley
gate is still closed >:(
lots of fish rising there only got one hook up though :-\
water temp 9-10deg slight breeze
Lots of guys arriving at 5pm just as i was leaving
i am hitting Rolley again in the morning
hope this helps The_Roe_Kid

I was out also - I just had a few tuggs and that was it. I did come across two huge fish balls on different locations but one at 27' and the other at 34' depth according to my finder.

I never seen fish balled up like that on the bottom before - my fisrt thought was a massive chrono hatch taking place but nothing was on the surface - unless they were never getting to the surface before being gobbled up.

Sure was a nice day out there andthe fish were determined not to disturb me.

I guess we pricked to many fish over the last few weeks that they're wary of flies.  :D
