i was driving home from the okanagan and was heading down zero avenue just before aldergrove. as i was slowing down for a bike race i noticed a guy with a rod and a styrofoam container of dew worms heading towards one of the overflowing ditches that run parallel to zero avenue on the north side.

my question = what was he fishing for? also, i have seen others fishing a small creek in a field closer to abbotsford further away from zero avenue but within about a couple of hundered yards.

what are these guys fishing for?? cutties??

maybe brook trout, A friend of mine who lives on a farm out in delta used to catch huge brook trout out of a ditch or farm irrigation ditch.  All he used was a hook and a worm also. Is that fishtrap creek? if it is then they are fishing for the odd rainbow , black crappy and the main attraction of bass.

Those wouldnt be brookies, those would be dollies.

Years ago you'd be surprised how the Cutthroat fishing was in that area. We caught fish not only in the ditches but in the  culverts to.
Probably more Bass than Trout in those systems now.

That's right!
There are still some Brookies around in small streams in the Valley I've caught them and was totally surprised-they weren't Dollies at all.

As to Bass-
