Well now for a real report(thanks GM) Went out with winter steel today, some parts of the river were perfect although just a bit high. We found good spots with 4-5 ft visibility. WS drifted through a spot that I had just fished myself with a prawn..and he hookes a good sized buck on a blade! #*!

I have a video of part of the fight in my album, it was a hatchery and WS kept up his Vedder bad luck streak by loseing it near shore. :-\

An hour later I hooked a beautifull wild doe of about 14lbs. A really nice fat fish, totally chrome. I landed that fish without any help from WS as he was off on his own around a corner. Managed to get a picture before I released it. I took a few seconds to admire it first, that was a nice one. Picture of that one also in my gallery.

Gooey didn't report but he killed a hatchery yesterday and lost another.   BP

On a side note, that buck had really firm nice flesh.  The doe I bonked 3 weeks ago was clenaer but the flesh was way softer...anyone notice that bucks seem to retain flesh quailty longer than does?

AYup, it is especially noticeable with Chum salmon, even in Squamish when they are Bar Chrome the Does are soft meat whereas the Bucks are much brighter and firmer, however I bonked a female Steelie on Sunday and the meat was pretty damn good

For sure. I killed a buck 1 month ago that was a little rosier then yours Gooey but it tasted better and had firmer meat then the bullet chrome does I got on the stamp. It's a fair trade off though. With one you get roe the other you get a slightly better tasting fish

oh sam, you mean that spawner boot you killed?

I saw a pic of his fish right after he bonked it. Nice looking fish 8). Then I saw it a little later and it was coloured. But hey, bucks tend to do that.
