Capilano River (May 15th.)
« on: May 15, 2007, 05:37:45 PM »

Fished the Cable pool from 1pm till 3:30pm with wool, spoon and spinner, with no success.  Saw a lot of winter runs at the pool and good thing they didn't hit my lures.  There were also a couple of early bluebacks spotted, but i couldn't get them to bite. I talked to a guy who was fishing down river before i arrived, and i was aknowledged that he caught two last week, but the bite was off today.  The warm weather we r having could be a reason, as well as the low water condition in that river.  I am thinking of giving it another try in a couple week, hopefully things will pick up.
One more thing, i was checked by a CO' not too long upon my arrival, a newly hired officer!  He told me they r assigned to patrol that river like, very often. can't remember his name but sure he was a nice guy to talk to.  good to see them out there, as the illegal fishing activities at the Cap. needed to be corrected ASAP.

I'll believe that when I see it. The only CO that patrolled that river with any regularity was Max Tschaare. He has since retired.

I fished the Cap on Thursday PM.   Both down by Park Royal and up at the Cable pools.   I did not get any  :-\ but saw about 3 3-4 lbers get caught.

Does anyone know if the detour on the trail down the river which is closed comes back to the river.

 ???

I was at the Cap yesterday and got three in two hours and my partner got two steelhead which were chrome bright and on with sea lice still on it! Hopefully a good sign for the run to start with more regularity!

The detour is about 200 - 300 yds south off the cable pool on Coho trail

Testo84 and I went to the Cap in the afternoon. Went to take a look in the hatchery and there were a few coho and steelhead in there. We walked down to cable and saw a few steelies and coho. We then fished down below, and just as we were leaving, a guy got into a bullet chrome fish. He was ontop of the big rock near the tailout of cable. The only problem was he was using 6lb. leader, and couldnt land it, so he passed me the rod asking me to land it for him cause he didnt have waders. It was a ocean fresh steelie of about 7lbs. One of the nicest steelies ive seen this year.

Going back Monday ;)
