haven't posted a report in ages.
#1 buntzen lake on mothers day. took my two kids out fishing with my wife on mothers day (i know...sounds more like a fathers day) wanted to get my kids used to fishing out of the boat. hooked up my three year old son and while trying to get my daughters line in the water my son hooked one on his own. unfortunately the tippet snapped. ended up getting a lot of bites in the short time we fished. while coming to shore (b/c kids were cold) my wife hooked into a 12 inch rainbow. overall, i was very impressed with the buntzen lake fishery. first time fishing this lake. all the bites and the one fish were taken on a gold bead headed, dark green wooly bugger. we only fished for an hour.
#2. hit courntey lake this last monday and usually i do very well at this lake. over the years, i haven't caught a lot of fish but i always get at least one big one (2-5 lbs) on each trip. i also like the look of the trout in this lake. very silver. anyways, fished for three hours and hooked one immediately on a gold bead headed wolly bugger. after that the weather system changed and got zilch. got caught in a wind storm and had to come in (fishing from a belly boat) saw three huge bald eagles and a very large black bear on the shore. that was a bonus.
just great to be out fishing.
anyways, heading up to watch lake for an annual trip to the caribou and will hopefully post some great stories of some large fish. if you recall, last year our group hooked a very large 8lb rainbow from this lake.
cheers....
