16 and 20 once pyramid weights
« on: May 23, 2007, 10:09:38 AM »

Anyone use this size and shape?  I found a mold that casts 16 and 20 once pyramids but I have been told that most bar fishers are chucking wedges...any feedback?

As well what would you think is a fair price for these weights?  How many would you go thru in a season?  Just trying to determine if its worth spending $100 to get the mold.

Thanks gang.

Here's what we do....

just take an old icecream pale......fill it with sand....wet the sand....place the size of the bar weight you want to make firmly in the sand in a verticle position....place tinfoil inside the "mold"...melt lead...pour it in the molded tinfoil in the sand.....quickly put your loop in the top...chunks of thick brass welding rod work best....let it settle...pull it out of the mold....pull tinfoil off and your set!

Its cheap......

Costs you:

1 Pale of Ice Cream

1 scoop of sand from the local parks sandbox (watch out for cat my smelly socks)

1 roll of tin foil from ......neighbours normally let these sit near their BBQ!

Some brass welding rod.....might have to actually buy one....
