There are three different fisheries - Commercial, recreational and First Nations, so you should also focus on one specific fishery instead of all three. Most of the time, the biggest problem with a research project is that you end up with too much information as opposed to too little. My recommendation would be to focus on the commercial fishery (herring, salmon or sturgeon) of the Fraser River/Georgia Strait.

The best way is still by seeking information from books at the library. A tour around the Georgia Strait Cannery suggested by Nuggy is also a great idea.
