Capilano River July 2nd, 2007
« on: July 02, 2007, 11:41:19 PM »

Well today I was skunked after fishing 4pm-930pm... I got some awesome looking roe from Sea Run, but it didnt help today... I didn't see anyone hooking anything at all... It's like the fish gods flicked off the switch. It was weird.

Hey I went down to fish that big pool below the marine drive bridge... Holy man did it look freaking awesome! Then a native river guardian came up and told me it was private property, and that I couldn't fish there. I was bummed, it was the best flywater on that entire river!

Has anyone else been kicked out of there fishing the west side? I'm assuming it's legitimately Squamish land but I thought I'd ask... Nice enough guy though...

Cheers,
Nicole

You were quite unlucky, Nicole. I used to sneak in and out of that pool/run before they had a chance to come after me.  ;D

I got my first Cap coho today in the fast water using peach wool. Very few fish blow by. But Cable Pool seems full of fish but they just did not seem to be interested at all to anything fishermen threw at them in the afternoon. I tried my own really nice cured roe, followed by spinner to no avail. There were fly guys, spoon men, even one fishing quill, but no one hooked anything at all mid afternnoon. Finally went down to white water and luck out with a 2-3 lb range coho. It feels a bit stange to hit a 44lb giant on Saturday and fought & landed the beast in 45 minutes and then this tiny coho today which gave me lest than 1 minute even though I scaled down to a small rod. But just as excited.  :D

It's all native fishing only from the marine drive bridge to the mouth of the river.but on the west side below the silver train bridge is open to non native fishing.

I went to the Cap last night and got a beauty 3-4 lb'er.

Yup, that was me, I was out for a stroll to see what was happening before I went downstream, Couldn't see any fish from up there, but I was looking...

Which one were you?

Was there tonight. Got checked by two CO's that were at Cable pool. Good to see. Saw three hooked on the fly, and my buddy hooked one on bait. But that was it.
