Last night I saw a guy slip of a rock into Cable Pool.  Luckily the water was quite low and so he managed to be able to pull himself back onto his rock. SCARY!!

That is definitely scary. He is indeed fortunate that the water was low. If it had been higher he would have been fished out by North Shore Rescue. Be careful out there.

I was there last night and witnessed this as well. He was playing the fish and trying to land it. Probably got too excited and slipped down to the pool. Be careful!

Wow! I was fishing there last night. I left about 9:15ish because it was getting dark. Hope he's okay.

Anyone try with a fly, if so what patterns? Any suggestions?

He didn't fish off from the cliff. He was fishing from the rock platform near the water. I think he was ok 'cause he continued to fish afterwards.

Well. good he was alright. Slipping and bonking yourself on a rock can't be a fun thing to do.

Thanks for the fly suggestion. I think I'll try a sinking line and cast out. I hope it gets down fast enough. The water there seems to move pretty fast - very pretty place and so close to the city!

Sure you can, I just walk them around the cliff and land them at the bottom of the stairs.

If you can get your line around the point without snagging on the branches. I wouldn't attempt it if the rock is wet. It's just not worth it.

Boy are you a newbie!! Its easy, takes some finese but keep at it you'll get it. I did it twice this morning. Some guy likes to leave his double red roe all over the top ledge, I collected 5 really nice pieces and got two fish in a few minutes with it. -Thanks dude, who ever you are.

P.S. by the way FF, I'm just kidding about being a newbie.
