Took the day off to fish.  Hit the vedder between 630-830.  saw a fish break water (which is the most I have seen all year).  That was pretty much it.  The water was down maybe 1 foot from my first trip on july 1st but it is still quite high.  I could deal with the height if it was clean but unfortunately we had maybe 18 inches vis.  that ranger slide is creating a real mess.

Anyhow, at 9 we were off to the fraser to a boat access bar.  there were 5 boats and we saw a total of 4 fish hooked from 9-1:00.  one for our boat which popped off.

Not the season I had last year but I guess we'll keep on tryin.

seems to on every other thread. I figured that was the norm. Not to mention I was just hopeful that the viz had possibly increased enough to be more successful with barfishing.

Sure it does. Someone might want to know if people are having success barfishing. We all know that the BB'ers are going to have success, but so far this season barfing seems slow. Some people would want to hear if its picking up.

the only reason the question was asked was too find out if by chance the water clarity was improving for barfishing

We were float fishing the vedder and flossing the fraser.

You know DFO really needs to take a position on flossing.  I didnt see a single sockeye flossed while I was there.  If they want to minimize flossing out side of sockeye openings then thats fine with me...just don't use the early run as an excuse.  If their only interest is the early run, I understand why fishers choose not to follow the selective angling request...no one was hooking any sockeye.

Mind you DFO notice said ANY method that can catch sockeye is recommanded not to be used.  Basically that includes BBing or barfishing.

Anyways friend was out on Vedder this morning using roe got into a fish fought for a few minutes the fish managed to get into a rapid and lost it.
Didn't get into any more fish afterwards.  (6 hours he fished)
He mentioned the water was a bit more coloured than Monday, when he was last out.

No.  Checked again today. I did see 2 today though, the first ones I have seen so far on the Vedder this year.  Be damned if I could get them to hit anything though...  they looked like they were on a Mission to move and were trucking it right along.

Stopped by the hatchery today.... probably 20 or so there now

fished top to bottom with no luck !!!

Tricky in the higher water, they're much more difficult to find...

I've heard of a handful taken, but not many... But they are in there!
