Fishing with Rod.com fishing club
« on: July 27, 2007, 12:19:35 PM »

Have you good folks, who visit this fishingwithrod.com, ever thought of starting a fishing club?
Something to organize group outings to fish, clean up, preserve, conserve, protect, lobby, build, exchange ideas and maybe make a difference.
Eh?!

Good Idea ! I was thinking of trying organize some kind of ride share dealy. Mostly for stuff in the spring and fall to the Interior and Merritt areas, maybe more.....

Since Rod FWR operates as a business (well he has a business licence anyway) there might be a problem with liability.

Yep. ;)

For river cleanups, go to:

http://www.cleanrivers.ca

Many members on the discussion forum participate in these cleanups from time to time. The next major event is BC Rivers Day on September 30th, which involves a river cleanup and a BBQ plus entertainment afterward.

For lobbying, join an existing sportfishing association such as the Fraser Valley Salmon Society, BC Federation of Driftfishers, BC Federation of Flyfishers, BC Wildlife Federation, Sportfishing Defence Alliance, which have representations at important sportfishing related meetings.

For conservation, fishery enhancement and other stewardship work, join a local stewardship group. Seymour Salmonid Society, Chilliwack River Action Committee, Port Moody Ecological Society, KEEPS, Streamkeepers... etc...

For fishing trips, interact with members here, generally some will end up becoming friends and fish together at times. Once awhile there are casual group fishing trips set up in the last minute at times too.
