Will post a couple photos later - but what an amazing weekend
. I have never experienced fishing as hot, ever. We fished Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and between the three of us we had our limit of Chinook, Coho and Pinks. We intended to stay until Monday but with no limit room left we left early Sunday morning (instead of today).
The action was pretty much non-stop with several double headers. The pinks on the surface (and this is crazy) were going after the neon yellow portion of our down rigger clips on the surface?!?! The average size of our springs was 30lbs with the largest being 36lbs. My brother in law C&R a 15 to 16lb northern coho which took us a minute to ID because it was SO early! Our last fish of the trip was a 11lb pink which fought like a champ. It took us a minute to actually ID it because it was so abnormally large.
In all that we kept and C&R we only played one sockeye (not good) which we C&R quickly. We usually run into a lot more out there this time of year.
I couldn't tell you how many fish we played, I just couldn't keep track. It was a fire drill on deck the majority of the time.
Get out there if you can!
