Queen Charlottes August 4-9
« on: August 09, 2007, 08:42:30 PM »

Just got back from a trip to Langara island. It was a blast cutplugging for springs and coho. Tons of big coho were around. My biggest was 15 pounds and I saw others get larger ones. Springs were hot and cold - at times you could not find any, other times  it got hot. Caught a number of them but nothing really big this year. Also lots of pinks biting, and sockeye splashing around. I hope those sockeye are headed to the Fraser as there are a lot of them up there right  now. I even landed one 13 pound sockeye on a cut plug herring (no it was not flossed ;D).
Did not do much bottom fishing but managed to pick up some halibut to 30 pounds while Salmon fishing.
Seems like the trend is to fishing deeper every year up there. Used to be 15-40 pulls max - now down to 60 or 90 is commonly used. Its a lot more work and not quite as much fun of a fight.
All in all had a great time.

Heres some pictures...

Well, I do not like them quite as much as the 19' centre consoles you guys have. I guess those boats are a bit like the older 16' boats you guys have.

I thought about coming in to see you at your place, but was not sure if I would be welcome showing up at the LFL dock in my banana boat. ;D

Yes Gwoman went with me again. She was not quite as lucky this time. I guess we were about even in catching fish. This time it seemed like we lost some of the biggest fish we had on\.... ::)
