Cates Park August 9th, 2007
« on: August 09, 2007, 04:55:03 PM »

What a sight today. I was surprised by the number of shore fishermen and boaters all circled around an area the size of a football field....I was lucky enough to be on my boat so I had some casting options.

I started at 7 and left at 3:30. By the time I left there was basically nobody left, except a junior dragonboat group that spilled into the drink after a large wake swamped them. A big thumbs up to the guys who boated over to help the little tykes out of the water and back to shore. I would have boated over myself but I had just hooked into a Pink on light spinning tackle and 6lb line and by the time I landed it they were all safely aboard.

The day ended with me hooking 8 landing 4 and bonking 2 (both males)...and no foul hooked fish.

Sorry no pics....realized I left the batteries in the charger this morning :D

Cheers

onto a coho.... my rod had a bad birds nest where i had to stop but my buddy
landed one that was around 2-3lbs

Tried a few spoons but it was a pink zinger that worked for me today.  Well I did try the fly rod but I was casting like a child so I gave up and went with the spinning rod!

Hi Zpg and river-rod dyl,

I was the guy standing at the north end of the beach later on there around 4-5. I had been fishing over by the launch for a bit, saw that canoe go over as well.

River-rod, we talked for a bit and I looked at your birdnested reel.

Taken on gold hammered firestripe Croc.

That's because it's mainly an early morning fishery

Fish Assassin the best times at cates park i think are the early bite and the evening bite around
4 to 5:45

i was there from 1 in the afternoon until about 5:15 and i didnt see anything until
about 4:45 when everyone along the beach was hooking fish

go to mapquest for the location. Otherwise it's near Deep Cove.
