That sure is great to see. But it is too bad that chief Sid Douglas of the cheam first nations does not feel the same. Here is what he said
 "Chief Sid Douglas of the Cheam First Nation said declining stocks are a concern, but so is food".

What if we started a food drive for these folks?  Then they wouldn't need these scarce fish would they?

What this is, is good conservation practices on behalf of the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation. That what this is.

Chief Leah George-Wilson is showing an example of excellent leadership.

It's a smart and innovative approach to a problem that other first nations groups can look to as a positive example. Hopefully other leaders (provincial, federal and first nations) step up to plate...

Anyone know which first Nations bands that have a sockeye allocation on the Fraser?  I've sent my appreciation to Chief Leah George-Wilson for his actions and would like to encourage other bands to follow his lead.

i seem to be getting confused here i keep rreading in the paper the first nations are "worried" they cant support there cumminties and they need to fish for the socks blah blah blha" they make it seem like they are goin to starve with out them but isnt there always pinks if u are so wqorried about starving families?? far as im concerned if they really care they drop the socks and go get some pinks

yep, it's not a food fishery, it's money fishery ..
in this day and age, hunting and gathering food to survive through the winter is irrelevant.
You are not going to starve...
I can't believe some of the things that come out of people's mouths.
