        I headed down the dogwalk , to check out the scene , with the outgoing tide , at 7:30 this am. Tide was still quite high.The odd  fish jumping-sea lice , I think- with some pretty big splooshes , in the river.
 
                 Pounded it with small spinners for an hour , with no hits , despite hitting the jumpers on the head. Some nice little silver Coho , along with some bigger springs , were moving through.
 
                 Left the river and headed to the breakwater, for some ocean casting. I still had 30 lb test on , from my Bamfield trip.
 
                   Needles to say , I wasn't getting good distance. Spoke with one fellow , whom landed a 7 lb spring earlier on a buzz bomb, but he released it, being under 63 centimetres (27 inches ?)
 
 Nice morning , but I think that the Fraser pinks , are a little more accessable right now.
 
  WATCH  THOSE JAGGED ROCKS - One false step , and  a whole can of hurt can be opened for your behalf- ' specially for us old guys.

I know that 63 cms was the Ling Cod length in '94 when I skippered the Tarquin 2 out of Sewells , HShoe Bay. Anybody on top of this one-for tidal springs ? Oh Rod ..........

Please excuse me if I have misundrstood....but are you saying that 23.5" is a legal sized spring??

62cm =  24.4"

I was out a couple of weeks ago and caught a 24" spring but couldn't for the life of me find my regs on-board to see if it was legal. For some reason I had in my mind that 24" was OK but wasn't sure so I released it.  I was going to keep that little one because it managed to take the hook pretty deep and I doubt it was going to make it. After checking the regs when I got home I was glad I let it go.
