Isn't there a bait ban in fraser now? maybe bar fishing is possible without bait?

Bar fishing is totally possible without bait a lot of bar fishermen barely ever use it. Bare spinning glow is fine.

Are the Wellington Bars boat-only access?  Any suggestions for bars with shore access that are barfing friendly?

As Noset said, barfishing in the non-tidal portion of the Fraser River is mostly done with a spin-n-glow and bait is not necessary. When permitted, a roe bag added to the hook below the spin-n-glow is quite effective for chinook jack late in the season. There is indeed a bait ban right now on both the tidal and non-tidal portions of the Fraser River until early October when fishing for salmon.

On the other hand, barfishing (or simply bottom fishing) in the tidal portion of the Fraser River is mostly done with roe. Once the bait ban is lifted, it should be good for coho and chum salmon.
