If I ignored the "leave them in a container filled with salt water" step and just put them in a jar (in the fridge) how long would they last?  By the way, the recipe worked great! Thnx. :)

Sorry the reply is so late.
At this point, just give em a 20 minute hot water bath and that should seal the jar. They're good for a few years after that.
