I think that ripper fished in one of your spots today Chris and said that he did well with short leader and roe! Maybe u have a convert there!Pulled in three hatch. Sounds like they are small though, where are the big ones?  Might try to get down myself soon, It has been a couple of years since my last trip, guess I lost the passion!  Too many people  :(

Good news. Yes most of the coho salmon we are getting have been small but the long linners have been getting the big ones. I guess it is because they have got big mouths. ;D

Don't tell the Ripper or he may go back ripping. ;D ;D

Thank you for the information regarding flossing. This is a topic area full of grey areas allright. So if the float is standing up and down, nice and straight, then I will not be flossing. From time to time on a drift I notice that my gear will hit a faster stream of water in it's travels and then the float goes at an angle for a second. At that time I AM FLOSSING but then when it slows down again I am NOT flossing. If I use wool and NOT roe then there is something wrong with my character and I enter the grey zone again.The acid test will be when I do catch one, I then have to then see where the fish is caught in order to feel good about what I have just done. Not only that but if a fisheries officer is standing behind me watching what I do I have to make sure that HE feels good about what I do. I know that the fish WON'T feel good regardless where I caught it but my wife feels great when she chomps down on a nice fork full of freshly killed salmon. Now things enter the grey area once again.

Wow, that is great information all right. There were a few tips that I will now pay attention to and try out tomorrow. I especially liked the tip about the float and it's weight and displacement in the water!!!! Thanks!!!!
