Tidal Fraser River October 12th, 2007
« on: October 12, 2007, 12:29:16 PM »

This morning I awoke before everyone else in my house and snuck out for a little barfishing on the north arm. Arrived just as the tide was peaking, threw out some chum roe sat back and started the waiting game. Things were slow for the first couple hours of the outgoing tide but as I was packing things up the rod started to move, good hook set and a 2lb dolly was landed and released. This brought some excitement so I decided to stick it out a bit. Few minutes later and the rod starts moving again, FISH-ON!, this time it is a chubby little hatchery jack coho. Rod is back in the water and Im just thinking of leaving again and BAM! rod bends right over, after a good hookset a large coho breaks the surface and puts on some amazing acrobatics, after a good tussle which included a couple big runs across the surface of the water I gently guide it into the net. But alas this fish has a adipose fin so I remove the hook from the roof of her mouth and let the 10lb beauty continue its journey up river.  Started out slow today but the action near the end made up for it, looks like a good year for coho fishing.

Very Nice.  I've got the gear already for the morning, will be a lot more peaceful than the Vedder. :D
