I wish more people on here would use capital letters when needed.

The Stave is Full of Snaggers Again
« Reply #32 on: October 28, 2007, 06:33:36 PM »

We were at the Stave River today. I knew that there would be a lot of bouncers, but i did not no it would be as bad it was. People were casting a huge chunk and ripping back through the river, snagging a chum in the back, gill, fin, or whereever, every cast. They would even beach the fish, kick it around, then release it.  >:(

Luckily, a DFO came along and threatened to fine a snagger 100$, and take away his rod and car, this was great to see, this was the first time i have seen justice done on the river, once the officer came, many of the other bouncers left.

It was hilarious when the DFO guy forgot to ask about the salmon tag, and I said out loud I wonder if he had a salmon tag and after he went all over him about having no tag hahahahaha.

That's where the giant net and tackling the runners would be alot of fun... Taunt them while they wait in holding for their fine and confiscation of gear...

Still doesn't come close to the level of harassment of those poor fish.

Just parking a RCMP car in the parking lot will deter alot of the snaggers.

I just think that there should be DFO patrolling busy rivers and different fisheries because i see so many illegal fishermen and nothing could be done. I also think the response time of DFO should be alot quicker!!!! Like an illegal angler who fishes a hole for an hour or two, who gets report  and no one shows up. Its really dissapointing!!!! :-[
