Suggestions for trout fishing
« on: November 06, 2007, 11:56:29 PM »

Any suggestions as to where to go trout fishing?  My arm has been pretty sore from all the coho action this year.  ;D

I'm taking out a 3 and 6 year old fishing and I need some consistent action to keep their interest.  Thought trout fishing would be the ticket.  I was considering Bunten or Sasimat but any LM lake would do.

Thanks

Although Buntzen and Sasamat were stocked just a month ago, they are deep and big so the success rate is not as high as some of the shallower, smaller lakes. Perhaps, you may want to try Lafarge Lake, where the kids have a chance to catch both catchable rainbow trout as well as some of the larger 1kg fish that were put in there one month ago. Another option would be Como Lake, where an age restriction exists. The lake is probably not as heavily fished as some other nearby lakes so there just might be more fish for the kids. Another small lake to try is Mill Lake, where 1,000 fish were put in during October. If fishing is not productive there, a trip to the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery nearby is an alternative.

Recently stocked lakes and number of fish can be found at:

I like to fish the east side of the lafarge lake (nearest pipeline road). You can find some good locations if you follow the trail around the lake.

Good luck to you :)

when fishing from shore at lafarge I always go to the side of the lake that has the dock. if you walk to the right of the dock you will fing a garbage can, I catch all my fish about 6-8 feet away from it.

Thanks all!

Hit Sasamat today.  Few others there.  Was a little slow but we managed to land two rainbows with one being a keeper in about two hours.  Kids were very excited.
