Chilliwack River November 19th, 2007
« on: November 20, 2007, 10:04:34 AM »

Was out at 8:30am and fished til the rains started @ 3pm. Worked the area from Vedder crossing up to just below Tamahii. Caught 2 chums 2 wild coho on #5 Colorado blade. The coho are very chrome with the scales not quite set indicated by scale loss during play.

Interesting to note that both doe chums had early season maturation colouring with still some areas of silver scaling. Both fish put up a heck of a scrap another indication of recent arrival to the river. Released both. Spoke with another fisher who had landed a 4-5 lb chrome keeper on roe and said he lost an earlier one.

The main flow still clouded with the grey, milky colouring but the surface layer foot to foot and a half is clear with a clearing green look to it. From shore to the edge of the fast/slow seam is very fishable clarity increases to almost better than  2 .5 ft.  Flow speed good but
a bit fast, it should improve as the river drops and slows and run off freezes at night.

Early morning fishers beware that on shore steelhead conditions are here with frost on all expose and shaded areas. Its extremely slippery out there. My cleated wading shoes were the ticket this morning.  :)

Thanks for the report! :)
Just amazing to hear the coho aren't tomatoes after such a long coho season at the Wack. Think I'll give it one last go out there Wednesday or Thursday with the sunny weather forecasted.
