merry steelhead season!

its getting close to that time of year again. cant wait  to be out there in the cold air and fishing in the snow! just wondering if there are any of you that have any  tricks for fishing slow deep  pools that are gin clear?i have not had to much luck chucking spoons for steelhead.but i will give it another go this year.

jensen egg and some peach wool usually does the trick for me. Pink bubble gum worms are great in the vedder

Hooked 3 in 30minutes on spoons last season (landed one). I'll definitely be fishing them more this year. Did the same thing with pink worms for the first time (landed 2), so I'll have the confidence to fish them this year as well. My arsenal has expanded every year, and this year i hope to fish "bugz" more. LOL

Bugs are excellent but kind of difficult to obtain in the winter months given that it's mostly dark at the lowest tides.

All you need is a headlight to get them in the dark.

thanks for the input guys but i do find in those deep pools (12'to 20') that my bait usually follows the lead because the float gets pulled faster (surface current) then my gear, so if i hold back on the reel it hardly moves. i have yet to find a cure for this? :-\

take your float off and bottom bounce the run for a better aproach... Use just enough weight to keep it off the bottom
