fishin', campin' & boating...any ideas!
« on: December 06, 2007, 01:59:13 AM »

Hey all, I am planning now for next summer with the family.  We want to go camping where I can fish and boat (19.5').  Do any of you out there have any recommendations ????  In the past i have never had to actually pay to camp and hope not to but realize if there are some great spots out there i just might have to.  We would like to go somewhere that is only about 4 hours or less away...otherwise the kids just drive me crazy >:( on the car ride!  Has anyone ever heard of or been up to Birkenhead Lake?  Any other ideas of where there are some good places to go?  Somewhere with a decent lake for the kids to swim in too.
Thanks in advance!! ;D

You can go to Anderson lake in D'arcy. Dollies and rainbows. The same for Lilloet lake just outside of Mt Currie. Both are big enoguh for your boat.

Oh and your little quote on Indians learnnig to fish is not funny at all but rather insulting. I'm Indian and fish with a rod. And so do alot of us.! :P

   Hope this helps out!

Stave lake. Lots of good spots for fishing and the water is warm enough to swim in. Also some really cool places to explore for gold, hot springs and wildlife. Your boat is big enough for what the lake can get like wave wise. The river at the far end is nifty too. Just bring a depth/fish finder and look out for the sunken forrest that is a major navigational hazard. I've spent a few days there and really enjoyed it. Some of the other lakes are too cold for swimming, sort of. Launch is easy to get to, but maybe not safe to leave to leave a vehicle there for too many days. Like most places. :-\ Just make sure your knowledgable about anchoring techniques too.

Pitt Lake has some cool spots on it as well.
Fishing can be decent and not the gong show of other more popular lakes.
