You can see the wind coming from the shadow created on the water. My float would just sit still and do nothing.

And to make thing worst, I forgot my vest after driving one hour to the river. I had to go back home to grab the vest and got nothing to boot!!!!

What a waste of time and energy...better stay home and watch the game!!!

Wind has appeared to die down some today and river looks very fishy but my cold has kept me away from taking the rod out. ::)

Conditions looked quite pleasant out there today, I was tempted to give it a try but got to shake this cold first. :(

Talked to Lew who was working his run but nothing to report other than a dolly he heard was caught earlier. The usual mid week crowd out.

Did my usual drive along the Vedder this afternoon, talked to a number of anglers and they all had the same answer, 0 caught, 0 seen and 0 heard of. ???

Usual drive out to the Vedder looking forlornly at the good looking water as one more day of rest needed but appears I have not missed much.

First ran into an angler who said he landed his biggest steelhead in 20 or 25 years of angling the other day over 20 pounds was his estimate.

Steelhead King arrived on the scene next armed with his spey rod, appeared to have lots of confidence in getting one, I am sure we will hear if he gets one. ;D

Next along comes Lew who reports nothing but found a nice drennan along the shoreline. We went and enjoyed a coffee together. I then continued my tour of the Lower river but saw nothing fish wise.

I got a nice photo of two eagles sitting right next to each other. Love Birds? ;D Maybe Spring is on the way, well Valentine's Day is only 3 weeks away today.

What a wonderful afternoon it was to be out there today as the temprature warmed up above freezing. I fished to nearly 5:30 but came up empty. The only fish I heard of was from two anglers who said they were into two earlier in the day. They were in the Lower when I talked to them but not sure if that is where they connected with their steelhead. The Lower seems to have slowed down asThe Master was into his third trip this week without a fish,. That was when I talked with him near noon.

It was good to get out after being off the river for over a week. Sounds like snow in the forcast for tomorrow so it really will be steelhead weather then. ;D ;D

Decided to leave the rod a home as I went out to check conditions for you. Would have liked to go out with the TV crew from Global covering the gravel story on Spring Bar but the boat was loaded with 10 people including the print media as well as the TV people and maybe not a good idea with my cold anyway. As I posted on another thread it should be on the 6 news this evening.

On my tour of the Lower I serviced the CVRCC garbage bags. Saw some broken glass at the Giesbrecht Road parking lot. In conjunction with this I was told by an angler some anglers caught two thieves and were turned into the RCMP. Good work guys. I was told, not sure if it was true but they were in an old white ex RCMP car. ??? ::)

During my drive I picked up some tins and bottles to help pay for the gas. ;D Conditions were perfect, a little warmer than the rest of the week.

Visited with a few anglers from the forum and only got one report from one that he had a fish on. Actually the steelhead hit as he was shaking the ice off his guides. :-[

Talking about ice the snow has just started falling here in Chilliwack.

When I got home I discovered I had dropped my Cell phone somewhere so I had to retrace my steps, luckily I found it. It was a little cool and was as pleased as I was to be retrieved.

Just another day alone the shores of The Vedder River.

We have that miserable NE wind blowing again today. Main roads are bare with snow flurries on and off.

River is REALLY clear and REALLY low......  it pretty much looks like the river did back in September  ???. Fishing was slow today.... talked to like 8 people who said :
0 caught, 0 hooked, 0 landed. Coming back home watched a guy land a 12.5 pound hatch doe right by Peach road. Only fish I saw all day.

Yes I guess it was, the only difference was that we had a little rain so the clay banks clouded the river up a bit, with the water being so clear it seems lower. The river is still crystal clear as of 2:00pm today and it came down another couple inches since yesterday.

Well it is pouring and windy here in Maple Ridge. Anyone know what it is like out in Chilliwack and what it is doing to the river.

I thought it was coloring up some from the snow melt around 4:30 when I looked at it below On The Way Store.

The winds this afternoon were terrible to fish in and my float was going upstream at times from the West wind. I was crazy being out in it. ::)

Wind has died down some now, no rain at the present and is 6 degrees.

Tomorrow conditions. :-\

Very windy today and the river had colored up some from yesterday but had improved later in the day.
