Started Steelheading again - Jan 20 - Chilliwack
« on: January 21, 2008, 10:15:51 AM »

Well, finally after many years of not being able fit Winter Steelheading into my schedule, I finally have had time to go out.
I headed up to the Vedder and hit the upper river around 7:30. Got my gear on and headed down to a pool I used to fish
years ago, tossed my wool out into that middle, and BANG, I was into a fish right away. WHAT A WAY TO GET BACK INTO THIS...

Unfortunately I must have a bad knot, after about 2-3 minutes my leader let loose and my fish was gone. It looked and felt
awesome. I rigged up again, but alas no more bites.

I did have quite the adventure about 30 minutes later however, I managed to slip on the rocks and tumble into river.
That water is damn COLD. I just wear hip waders and managed to fill my boots. Not the best thing to do in January. Oh well,
thak goodness for wool socks, just wring 'em out and carry on.

All in all, a good day to get back to the river after so long.

dakster, make sure you head back out soon enough, it is all too easy to put off, but it is such a great feeling getting that steelie strike.
