I slipped on the cliff at allison pools and just about lost my rod in the river. The hook came out of the clip and caught on a peice of rock. :o I went on to land my biggest 20+ wild steel to this date. :D

Four years ago.Last day of sockeye opening.Sunday nite 6 pm.I decided to get out my old mountain bike and take a ride down to scale bar.Halfway down(very fortunately on one of the less steep sections) the front wheel hit a rock and the rust holding it let go.The wheel spun 90 degrees to the handle bars!I shot headfirst over the bars and came to an abrupt stop on my face.Luckily just some minor cuts and bruises for my trouble.Worse thing,a broken rod and no place to buy another. Two morals, always pack a spare rod and do whatever maintenance is necessary it may save your life.

LOL :D

Came around a bend while floating the Skagit river opening day this year. Got out of the flow, walked across a gravel bar and put in on the sweeper side instead of the easy flowin' side. I was supposed to follow the fishing partners I was with but wasn't paying attention and immediately got swept into a log jam on the fast flowing outside corner. I hit the logs and got sucked under. I was clinging on to the fallen tree with my arms while my legs and body were being sucked under the jam. The whole time my FishCat was being blown against my back, covering me. I tried to scream for help but the guys were just turning the corner and couldn't hear me. They wouldn't have been able to help anyway as it would have been impossible to get back to where I was as the side I was on was heavily forested . My waders filled up to my waist with water. Being in the clutches of Death I decided it was not my time to go and inched my upper body bit by bit up onto the log. When I got my body out of the current I tried to stand up and found my legs weighed a lot more as the water was up to my waist !!!!! I was standing on this tree, waders filled with water, no one in sight, no one knew what had happened to me and I was soaking wet. All  I cared about was that I was still alive but I had lost my flyrod. Just by luck, my collapsible spin rod has come unhooked and the spinner had hooked me in the shirt so I was able to save it and continue fishing. The whole time i was stuck on the log it had been flowing under the current in front of me hooked in my shirt. Aslo, my tube stayed behind me and behind the jam so I was able to get it out , wring out my clothes and empty my waders, gather my wits and hop back in the flow to continue fishing. Man was I cautious after that !!!! Had a good story to tell the boys who were waiting a few bars down.

Moral : Don't be a retard like me and float tube a river you have no knowledge about when its 5 feet higher than normal. Some of the other log jams we saw that I could have been sucked into were man eaters compared to the one I got stuck under.
