FWR Angler Age Demographic
« on: February 07, 2008, 03:41:32 PM »

Hey,

BC Outdoors published some Stats Can data about angler age. They claim over half of all Canadian anglers are in the 45 - 60+ bracket.

After browsing some other local sites I found some to be heavy on teenagers and others to be a little over the hill for my tastes.

Some people I know view 'fishing' to be an old man's game but I beg to differ ! All those guys can stay off the flow untill they're 70 !!! ;D

So : Where does FWR sit ? It seems like a good balance of young and old, but you guys show us where we're at !

Thanks !

Two of my fishing buddies , and myself, are in the 36-50 (and I'm close to the top end of that range) with a couple others in the over 50, and my grandson at the low end of the 20-35. I've only put in a vote for myself, as they might post their own votes once they've seen this.

Hey Chris,

The over the Hill gang is where its at. I cant imagine the accumulated angling knowledge I will have by that time. Looking forward to it !

PS : Total modern day Stanley Cups for the Canuck's and Leafs will still be zero at that time.  :-\ :D

This Forum is a very interesting mélange of older anglers and younger folks-which is why it's rarely dull. ;)

Seems like a normal distribution.  Not surprising I guess.

What's that mean "a little over the hill for my taste", I thinks I may have just been insulted, if I wasn't so senile I'd take offence. This survey may not show a true cross section of actual anglers cuz those kids are a lot more comfortable with computers than a lot of us old guys.

Nice poll CandT, I was curious about this myself...the amount of younger people on this site is a bit surprising.

Good survey I for one would like to see more kids on the river, I enjoy fishing with kids and it should only be an old guys sport y'know during the week when schools in  ;). Actually fishing, like hunting is one of those things that can bridge generation gaps and all ages can have a good time participating together.
