would like to take the kids out fishing tomorrow but where?? that is the question wold like to go some were with a out doors feeling
nothing like como lake or lafarge lake I'm located i maple ridge and willing to travel but not to far i would go crazy

have a boat but in storage still so probably shore fishing and a 4x4 so not scared to off roading to.

Not sure about you, but my kids are still fairly young, so I need to keep their attention.  I'll fish for anything, as long as the action is good.  I don't plan on all day and have a back up plan if all goes bad.  Are there any local docks with fair amount of pikeminnow around?  Good luck and have fun.  I might try to do the same.

fish for bullheads and crabs off White Rock pier, or slack tides at Cresent.
the odd time you hook into a dogfish, kids love catching sharks. lol

Minnow species (pikeminnow, chub, sucker) are not active in the tidal portion of the Fraser River this time of the year. The only fish you may encounter are sculpin, the odd dogfish and perhaps some bull trout if lucky.

Perhaps the Stave River is worth a shot. Coastal cutthroat trout and mountain whitefish are around at times. Access is easy for the kids. Float fish with bait (dew worm) would be the easiest way for them to get into fish. Lower Allouette, Nicomen Slough are also worth a try.

Lakes were last stocked by the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery around late November/early December. For information on lakes around the Lower Mainland, the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC just released a feature lake guide for region 2. Stacey Lake info is included in it.
