Flloating Fraser River lodge?
« on: March 19, 2008, 10:24:11 AM »

there was an article in the sun the otherday, about the proposed floating lodge....IS there actually going to be a floating lodge sitting in minto channel this season? or has it not worked out with the locals (aboriginals) and the government?

Anyone know?

It's actually owned by West Coast Resorts to be used during fishing season here and tentatively was going in minto channel.. as of yet there is no permission from any government agency nor the natives (as if they need to aprove what someone does). Will it happen? It remains to be seen.. but they're sure promoting it as though it's already a done deal.... strange.

I think a better location would probably be the waterway between the harrison confluence and island22 boat launch...
more scenic

i'd dont see what the big deal is... We have lodges up and down the coast, why not one on the fraser river in Cheam territory?

I do not think minto is cheam, they only have until the jesperson area (above peg) and the chehalis/scowlitz/_______ the one down before grassy bar own that territory.....

I think the river is too fast and heavy for a floater below the harrison....can't get it up the harrison as the bridge isn't tall enough lol, so minto would have to work....not a bad idea tho....

It would be good to have someone watching the Fraser at night. ;D

Of course no one fishes at night , do they.

people fish the fraser at night....isn't that illegal  ???

 ;)

I live fairly close to the river, and it sounds like a bee hive out on the river every night, small engines tho  ;D ..... I would never dare do the minto channel stretch in the dark....

I dunno they have a helluva lotta work to do between now and opening day.

Plus anchoring that thing during freshet is going to be a b*tch and keeping it anchored is going to give someone some grey hairs-lots of grey hairs.

It's an interesting idea though and what lodge operators in the Charlottes did when the natives first complained (this was years ago) was to give natives first crack at whatever jobs were open.

That and some baksheesh pretty much shut them up you don't hear a peep from them now since their own people work at the lodges. ::)
