Mary and I decided to wet a line at Buntzen today, we had been out there two weeks ago and had some success so I was optimistic about today.
We arrived at the lake around 9, there were lots of people out for a hike but not alot of boats out on the water. As soon as we had both rods in the water we were into a double header, a small cutthroat and a small rainbow. It seems we had arrived at the right time as the bite was on, the lake was calm and there was a fair amount of fish sipping bugs from the surface.
More people slowly started coming in every type of watercraft imaginable, most enjoyed some good fishing as it seems everyone we saw was into fish at one time or another. But shortly after lunch the wind picked up and the bite seemed to shut off, so we packed it in and headed for home.
All in all a pretty decent day at the local lake, with 12 fish making it to the boat and plenty of others lost due to headshakes and runs at the boat.
The hot fly of the day seemed to be the maroon carey special.
