I am thinking of heading up to the Whistler area. I have never fished up there and I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share some tips...or secrets on some good spots to try. Also types of flies or gear to try/use while there. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Stop in at the Whistler fly shop, they should be able to point you in the right direction.  Also, BC Outdoors released a guide to Lower Mainland lakes a few months ago.  Still on shelves at the stores.  It mentioned several Whistler area lakes in decent detail in terms of access and depth as well.  Decent reference guide for future use.

Read some of the posts on Alta lake cutty fishing.  Beautiful scenery too!

Alta, Alpha, Nita, Lost Lakes. Look out for lake-specific reg (eg. Alta has a bait ban, catch and release reg in place).

Yup the guys at Whistler fly shop helped me alot.

Think about taking a drive towards Pemby.........it could be rewarding

Spooner, ice has already been off on all the lakes that I've mentioned above. We fished one of them two weekends ago with some success.

Thanks for all the replies. Where do I find the Whistler Fly Shop? Is it in the village somewhere? I will be using a float tube so I guess a smaller lake is best. Which would be the smaller lakes to fish? Thanks again guys.

the two best for float tubing are nita and lost lakes,
the better of the two would have to be lost as it is stocked more and is always productive
at lost the shoal closest to you and to the left of the main beach are is the best(beside the lily pads).
Even though lost is more productive for smaller fish, Nita has a few big fish and still can be pretty productive for smaller trout.
