Bear Down!
« on: May 20, 2008, 11:17:38 AM »

I went to Vancouver Island this weekend along with two other friends and we each managed to harvest a bear. Here is mine:

This blackie was feeding in a ditch along a FSR and me and my friend put a stalk on him, right before I was ready to shoot a car shows up out of nowhere and scares the bear which runs out of the ditch and up to hill into the cutblock! I then jumped the hill and dumped him with my ruger mkII 30-06 right in the heart as he was walking/running away at roughly 75yds.

He is about 5'7 but and has a big noggin on him. This is my first black bear of many more to come!!

What would a bear like that taste like?  I've never eaten bear.

very nice, dad just got back from revelstoke, some photo's of a massive bruin, couldn't connect, the bear was across a raging river that he wasn't willing to cross

here are the photos. they were taken with a camera phone, photos of the bear were taken through a spotting scope, the bear was at 1023 yards on the range finder.
