Garfish: A refreshing taste of spring
« on: June 06, 2008, 11:58:35 AM »

Every may and June, garfish ("hornfisk" in Danish, scientific name "Belone belone") make their migratory journey into the Baltic Sea for spawning. While fishing for them can be excellent, garfish also make a popular spring dish. Covered in breadcrumb and lightly fried, garfish fillet serve nicely with potato and parsley cream sauce.

I'll post up the recipe when it is ready.

Cool.

Canadian Flyfisher has done articles about the Gar in Ontario. They get pretty big and sound fun to fish . Last issue the guy landed a near record length of 50". 1 inch short of the first place 51". :o

The Danish version are really interesting looking.

Where are you catching them, and how far do you need to be able to cast a fly? What would be the best fly to use also?
