 fished  4 days in  Queen Charlotte slow for springs but killed 2 a 23 and 32 and hooked 35 to 40 coho a day lots of hos 12 to 15lbs big cohos this year got my 2 halibut 25lbs  water was like glass had a good 4 days of fishing sunny most of the time seen lots of killers  and 4 humpbacks came up beside the boat .jerry got a   164 lbs halibut on salmon gear 25 test 1 hour to land  in 40 feet of water

Tyee1on, is it better or about the same as your past trips?  It sounds good and I hope it is an indication of what can be expected in the fall.  I look forward to your response.

Sounds like a good trip. I have heard similar things about springs being a bit slow this year, and coho bigger than normal.

went to st john's  fishing lodge some people cancel so there was a opening for $1300 it was a  last minute deal

I can confirm that Chinook fishing has been slow this year. there have been a lot less springs around as compared to previous years . The one saving grace is that the number of big fish has gone waaaayyyy up. I beleive in the week before last between our lodge(QCL) and spudcotes (Perrigrine) there were 8 fish over 45 pounds released and a few more over 40 bonked. We had one of our servers release a 70 pound spring! Everything seems very late this year as well. The coho have showed up in the last 10 days or so but they were 2-3 weeks late. They have been a couple pounds heavier on average and the flesh on them has been very nice and fatty.
The outlook for next year ius supposedly outstanding for numbers of springs...unless they all get caught in th damn pollock fishery .

I returned from Peregrine in Naden Harbour June 22 2008 and though the Chinook fishing was tough, I managed a 25 and a 37 that won me the pools both days.  The weather was great when we were there but fishing slow unless you counted the 20 pinks a day.

Humpbacks and Orcas visited with us each day and the halibut fishing was good for chichens.  Too bad the limits changed to 2 for the trip, but to conserve our resources, it was worth it.  The largest our trip was 56 lbs.
