A couple of my buddies have reported being run down, or nearly run down, while bar fishing.  As many are now doing, they had their rods set up in their boats and were anchored out from shore in a few feet of water.  In each instance a drift net was allowed to run right through their anchorage and they were force to pull anchor or be dragged along (maybe down) by the net.  In both cases, no warning was given by the approaching net fishers.
* Who has the right-of-way in these circumstances?
* Would it be appropriate for the boater to cut the net free from their anchor line?

depends if you have a bigger gun then the indians who will be shooting at you if you touch their nets.

Why would someone have a gun out in their fishing boat?

Someone would have to be pretty ignorant to actually shoot at someone, or their boat, in what's pretty much the city.  With cell phones and pocket sized digital cameras able to record live video these days I think technology should provide a pretty good balance.

lots of them have guns in there boats.. they shoot at seals all the time... not to mention a bunch of rowdy drunk ones trying to sky bust a flock of canada's out of season across from me one day

the anchored boats are in the right, but it's not hard to just pull the lines in and wait for others to pass. We all must share the water, might as well try to get along.

They're dragging in a few feet of water?  Wow, why don't they just go ashore and drag on land also.  That way they can exercise their ceremonial right to kill everything that moves. 

If it were me, I'd find it kind of futile to keep fishing after one of these net rigs came through.

That happened to me up above Spaghetti bar , we were out about 30 foot out in the water with the bar rods out . However the natives came by with there drift net and asked us where are lines were cause they could not see the line in the water . We showed them where abouts the lines were and they kindly made way around them ,much  to our suprise .

  Have you ever seen what is in those nets. It is not just salmon. They also have sturgeon as a bycatch. And those go in the boat as well

If he's willing to hook onto my anchor then I'm willing to give him a tow. 
 
Actually, when a drifter shows up, I move. No problem. No point in staying if they're going to drift the bar I'm fishing.
