trophy xl pin

the trophy winter run pin reel, are they any good for the price? i saw a rod and reel combo for $249. the rod was also a trophy. is that a good deal?

the original ones that came out a few years back were junk!  they may have improved?

I have 1 of the first 1"s all I did was go through all of them at the store till I found 1 that spun smoothly with no wobble

Thats says alot about them if you had to weed out the lousy ones.

have had mine for 2 years and havent had a problem. break it in and it spins excellent

garbage, if your looking for a lower price new reel look at an aventa and upgrade the bearings in it.... or look at a reel produced in hope called a campbell..

I dont think you guys should slag a SPONSER of this site, just because you dont like thier product.

I agree Jim. IMO island boy, $249 for the rod and reel combo is definately a great price for both. I am assuming this is your first pin set-up? I have had no problem with my winter run yet. I know a lot of people judge them as soon as they pick it up and spin it and it does not spin much. A few good trips and it spins very well. As well, I have never had a trophy rod come back into the shop unless it was the persons fault...ie.car door etc. I am just going by what I've seen, but people I know that have them, including me, have talked about how reliable they are.

perhaps they have sorted out the problems now, but when they first came out i was far from impressed
