I want to fish the stave in my inflatable it is equipped with 25hp motor and 55lb thrust electric.  Does anyone know a good place to launch the boat and if anyone has any general advice for boating the stave I would like to know.  Thanks.

I think the one at Haney marine on river rd. in maple ridge,I beleive he charges 5.00 ? I would would take it easy up there as it has changed alot.

is the boat in pieces or is it inflated on a trailer 
if in pieces it could be carried in  and put together at a few spots
on the west side road,or even the toilet bowl itself,
but if it is on a trailer then mission or fort langley or haney marine
are the closest spots to launch

I will be putting the boat together on site.  I should have transom wheels by then to aid in launching.  I will try and find a suitable spot for launching at the stave probably at the toilet bowl if it isn't crowded.  Thanks for the info.

There is a launch on the Fraser across from the mouth of the Stave. It's behind the Island on the Abbotsford/Langley side. Problem is there is a gate just inside the parking area preventing a trailer to be backed in. Someone with a carry-in would do okay.

Just park by the toliet bowl and walk it down. I do it all the time. I usually dont take the motor unless im doing alot of searching which is not nessasary right now

There is no charge at Haney

taffydoll, you're incorrect.  Haney is a private launch owned by Haney Marine.  The charge is $5.

Joe at Haney Marine lets his customers use it for free.
There is a small fee which isn't really enforced to others.
I take him a bottle a Christmas and say thanks as he's been very good to me.

As for launching in the upper Stave area.
You could get burned on a low tide getting back up.

I have never fished it, but can you get to the dam area with a prop boat or do you need a jet?  If you need a jet, are there good areas that are accessable with a prop boat?

Does anybody happen to know what time the launch at Haney Marine opens in the morning?

We ended up launching near the toilet bowl.  We decided to go down river a bit and were immediately adrift down river in water less than a foot deep (had to lift the motor right away).  We ended up finding a good spot to park the boat and fish but on the way back I tried going up river near shore where the water was a bit deeper but ended up banging the prop on some rocks and chipping the propeller. So we got out of the boat and walked it up stream.  Lesson learned.  Always start from the bottom of a river and go up when negotiating new water that way you can more easily turn around and float back with the motor up if you run into some real skinny stuff.  In the end it was a great day out on the water, with good friends and lots of chum.

One time a fellow angler told me it is a good idea to leave your motor in the unlocked position so if you hit something the impact will be dampened but I also read from another source that today's motor are designed to do this in the locked position anyways.  Any advice?

I always leave my motor on tilt...ive hit a few good logs in the river and had the motor pushed up and no damage so.....
