Nice fish Milo, and on the fly, way to go I was out about a week ago and landed two nice 10lb coho, one hatchery, the other wild. It was in one of your favorite backwaters in the upper river Next outing I'll have to try some of the lower river ponds as they seem to be producing welll too.

Were you fishing the ponds again or swinging the fly in flowing water? Maybe that's where I need to be casting my spoon.

There are No Trespassing signs all over the place yet I see cars parked along the road. Has any of them being towed ?

I dont know about them being towed but they are getting broken into everyday.

Last march I was walking through the prison grounds, and the one guy who does the security patrols drives up to me, and began to make some friendly talk. The guy was really nice but wouldnt stop talking! I guess he was bored working up there by himself. He could care less If anyone woundered on to the private land, as long as your not looking for trouble.

I think we will not see an increase in the amount of coho being caught this year as the run is poor and I believe nearing its end, if it really started. It is now mostly just a chum salmon fishery. In the 4 areas we stopped at during the day the only coho I saw on or caught was at where we started fishing.

The coho season is just taking off for me.
I caught these two gals on the fly today in one of my favourite holes:







Not a single chum today for me, but at least half a dozen coho.
It's just a matter of finding the right water.

Nice report Milo, pretty sure myself and my buddy were two gear guys fishing beside you. If you are Serbian or Croatian. Nice fishing with you guys. We did foul hook some fish but released them all. My buddy did retain one which bit his spinner. That spot is by no means a secret. We did very well there last year, fished with the same method and pretty much 95% of all coho caught had bitten the lure right in the mouth. Sorry if anybody thinks casting spinners or spoons is unethical, it has worked for me many times before.

Hey, Rybar, I know exactly who you guys were.
I was surprised to see how efficient you guys were fishing with spinners, and I was delighted at your and your buddies ethics. You made sure to carefully revive and release the few fish you foul hooked. I was commenting to my friend that it would be nice if all fishermen showed respect for the fish like you guys did. Kudos to you!

As for the spot, it is not a secret, but it is not public domain either. Most of the people who fish it are the same people every time.
So in the interest of conserving one of the decent few fly fishing waters on the Vedder free from the hordes, please keep the spot to yourselves and by all means introduce yourselves next time we meet.

Did you get to see me taking a dunk while fighting that big coho?
