Water levels been fantastic, alot of fishermen when we got there. Parking spots were full!! FULL!! Alot of people fishig shoulder to shoulder above the railway bridge. 2 Noisy guys yelling out, also they were yelling out anywhere on the head is fair game, especially the gill plate. Idiots... Mouth only isn't it? so my friend got couple of bites, Had 4 on my line and lost them attempting to land them. They were all hatchery, great fishing! alot of schools of coho's watched everyone land fish, 1 chum landed and released. Fantastic day but no meat in my fridge =[
Great day to fish! hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Murkey, but still visible for the fish, just enough. it looks somewhat like a really watered down sewage water

I stopped by the river this morning, it was slime green and had maybe 4 inches of visability. I counted 29 cars by the bridge, and everyone I saw was "float" fishing with 8-10 feet of line from float to hook, saw 8 guys jerking their rods every few feet trying to intentionally snag. Was disgusted with the sight of the river and the people, so called it in to DFO on my way out, Definately not fishable today.

I stopped by the river this morning, it was slime green and had maybe 4 inches of visability. I counted 29 cars by the bridge, and everyone I saw was "float" fishing with 8-10 feet of line from float to hook, saw 8 guys jerking their rods every few feet trying to intentionally snag. Was disgusted with the sight of the river and the people, so called it in to DFO on my way out, Definately not fishable today.

Well this may be true but it was definately fishable and I would say vis was at least a foot. We were fly fishing and each hooked around 7 fish in the hour we were there (all in the mouth) and 2 of them were coho..... and NO, WE WERE NOT FLOSSING because we were in a backwash stripping in  . Don't assume everyone is snagging. I had my best day on the fly rod ever with ~21 fish hooked today, ended up leaving with a decent chum (picture below). Mostly fishing Dewdney slough and the Norrish.



Also had some accidental catches that I wasnt expecting

Nice catches ED. Just to make sure there isn't any confusion when people read this thread (since the title only says Norrish Creek), retention of chum salmon is only allowed in Dewdney/Nicomen Slough (2 per day), not Norrish Creek.

To correct what you said Everyday, if you actually read what I said, I was at the bridge this morning, and yes it was about 4 inches of visability where "I" checked, maybe where you fished there was better visability but from where "I" checked it was horrible and was there in the MORNING. Maybe it cleared up as the day wore on. Glad to hear you had good success, I short float, don't have the setup for fly fishing, so it was not worth "MY" time. Also I NEVER accused you of flossing or anyone else on this forum , DID I? I merely stated what I witnessed. Nor did I assume everyone was snagging!! I said and I quote "everyone I saw was "float" fishing with 8-10 feet of line from float to hook, saw 8 guys jerking their rods every few feet trying to intentionally snag". What that means is everyone "I" saw was snagging, I did not check the entire river, and a person is not float fishing if their float is lying sideways on the top of the water.

I've been up to Norrish several times the past couple of weeks and it seems quite a few people are not reading the regs regarding no chum retention.  
Was there today again and the action has dropped completely off with the water up considerably and very colored. Was a mob scene at the bridge and the usual snaggers trying for the holding fish.
I hiked both well below and well above and no signs of fresh fish moving through like I'd readily seen on previous trips.
Water needs to clear up and drop and might get better again.

Just to clarify before this cascades into a locked thread, I was not implying that ED was not following the regulations. Knowing him, it is unlike he wasn't and the chum was kept in Dewdney Slough. I made the post earlier just to make sure people would not be confused and are aware that chum salmon retention is not allowed in Norrish Creek, so we can prevent this:

it seems quite a few people are not reading the regs regarding no chum retention.

I did kill it in the slough... I know about the Norrish non retention. I just said sorry for screwing every one up    We were just around the bend from the bridge at first light this morning and were there till around 8 so we were there in the morning in the same general area as you were. I dont see how the water can change so much in a short period of time 

But w.e I wasn't trying to turn this into a beeking match so.... Norrish is fishable and so are a bunch of other places. Go try and get the fish to bite and you might be surprised with how well you do

It came up over night (last night) and I dont even think it rained?!!

Someone I talked to out there said it actually did rain hard late last night out there.
And no worries Ed as I realized from those posts you had bonked it elsewhere but I still run in to people on a regular basis on that flow that think it's okay to keep chum and anything hooked in the front half of the fish.
Let's hope we don't get much more rain and the river settles down as it was deadsville today.
