Hardy silex reels, the differences
« on: November 11, 2008, 11:01:37 PM »

I would like to get some info on the differences between the old hardy reels whether it be era, mechanism, or purpose.  I was most interested in the Silex, the Super Silex, the Silex Superba, the Silex Major, and the Silex Jewel.  For instance, i know that they existed usually in different eras but i am most interested in the physical differences.  Let me know if anyone can help.

Here's a bit of info with a couple pics. Hope it helps

The Silex produced 1896 thru 1911

Silex No.2   1911 - 1922

Silex Major   1923 - 1952

Super Silex   1928 - 1953

Silex Jewel   1954 - 1959

Superba  1960 - 1971

The Silex don't have production dates on hand on this one. Happy New Year!!
