was out today, fished the crossing to peach. Caught an old chum at Lickman,seen fresh window glass in the parking lot there too.Started at train bridge area in the a.m. not a sniff anywhere,except my nose in the cold air.Putting chapstick on the guides helped keep the ice off a Little bit.

I've had pretty good success with using dry fly floatant on the guides.

I suspect it won't be long before the guys down at Muppet Labs come up with heated guides.

Loon's Outdoor makes a product called Stanley's Ice-off paste which has been formulated just for rod guides and fly lines. I have had good success with this product, make sure to apply it on dry guides before fishing though. I have been able to fish some days for 4-6 hrs before having to re-apply the product in sub zero temps.

Glycerin (and known as glycerine or glycerol) also works quite well at preventing your rod rings from freezing up.
