Barbless hooks (gamakatsu) have a different curve to them then the barbed versions. This is due to the fact that a barb aids in the forging process. I personally do not like the looks of the factory barbless hooks.

other than the tensile strength I love gammie barbless for sturgeon fishing. this past summer/ fall we increased our hook up/landing ratio by a huge %. the only downside is your using 200 lb test short strong rods and hooks are the weak spot.

 but the "look" has nothing to do with the performance.

Mustad makes good hooks for sturgeon strength wise. However they are thick and the barbs are near impossible to pinch.

PS: Tensile Strength is not the cause for a hook bending out. The term would be stiffness.
