          I spent a great couple of hours on the Vedder to-day when a young man moved upstream from me and asked if it was OK with me . Of course it was no problem and being impressed with his enthusiasm kept an eye on him . He covered water and would move slightly then repeat . The thing that caught my eye was the two-piece older fiberglass rod with brass ferral fittings . I timed my departure to meet and querrie him about the rod . He stated that the rod was passed down to him from his deceased Granfather . Well I was so surprised as his Grandfather was George Frisky that I knew quite well and is considered the inventer of the "Frisky Fly" . The Frisky Fly consisted of white wool over red or pink wool and for many years was the set up of choise . It should be noted that those were the only colours available at that time  and George stipulated that you had to comb the wool .
          A special Rod and a special young man to boot .

    Your right on the Sun story . I remember him while steelheading in 1961 and considered him a honest Gentleman with a passion for fishing  .. Oh man , thats was a long time ago..

Back in the 80's allot of the veterans of the day would have breakfast at the on the way store,or just stop in to share the morning hot spot stories,George was often there willing to give advice or share a yarn on how good fishing used to be.

    I stand corrected as George used a toothbrush to dress his wool flys.

Good article, JBJ. Thanks. I've printed it and will keep it in my "fishing file" for future reference.
I've never heard of the guy but I still use his technique of meticulously brushing and grooming my wool.

   Some will remember George`s son Danny who was also an avid steelheader . Many a time Danny would be  working with his back grader and his fishing gear ready in the pick-up . Now Danny`s son is pounding the water , the son like father thing lives on !!!
