my 30th birthday is a couple weeks away  (unfortunately) and the nice thing is that my lovely fiance wants to get me a guided trip to the upper pitt river because she knows how I have always wanted to fish it. I wanted to get any advice from the knowledgeable people on his forum if the timing is worth while investing the money in and any guide recommendations that you may have. it would probably be the last week in march.

Id say its a pretty good time for the Upper Pitt.

No salmon but all the dollies, bulls , cuttys and steelhead + resident trout will be gobblin' up all the sockeye fry and others.

Pitt River Lodge has a really good rate if you find two chums ( need a second or third man I'm in ! ) to go with. 3 people for a day trip is $290.00 pp if you have three peeps.

Garry Elgear of Riverside Fly and Tackle does guided trips up there. He has a truck at the dock at the top of the lake so if you are opposed to jet boating the river he can drive you around up there instead. If you would rather be in a jet boat he can put you with one of his guides that do that.

Also Todd Sharfe (sp?) regularly guides up there. He may be fly only though.

thanks for the posts. i cant fly fish yet., dont know how. :(yet! i will let you know what i decide and if need a 3rd partner.

Todd's a great jet boat driver and the boating part of the adventure with him is worth the trip alone. Like mentioned above he is an exceelent fly casting instructer, taught my wife how to do it. Has first rate equipment and does a great lunch.

No dieter the upper pitt is NOT fly fishing only its just what a majority of people that fish like to do. Im pretty sure it has a bait ban year round though but would have to check reg's to make sure. I have been up there a few times in my younger days but sadly it wasnt fishing  now i want to go back just for fishing LOL

i'd also recommend Gary.  Haven't fished with him yet. but plan on doing so soon...
i'd be up for taking a second or third spot as well on a charter. fished the river before but never via jet boat...

Harry Penner out of Fraser River Lodge likely has the most experience of anyone out there. I wouldn't hesitate a day with him.
