Thanks for helping to spread the awareness. All of those concerned should be putting pen to paper and directing comments to the Ministry of Agriculture, the agency currently responsible for fish farms. There are other government agencies involved (Ministry of Environment, DFO) and therein lies the problem. The more involved the greater chance of no one taking any responsibility.

I would suggest that these Foreign owned companies contribute to Campbells campaign funds.Just as the U.S.A owned run of the river projects contribute to his coffers.He's a snake ,its all about the almighty dollar,we need to organize and protest,a little civil disobedience goes a long away,theres not enough publicity on these issues!Theres alot of members on these sites and others just like it,power comes in numbers fellows.Let get our voices heard!

Definitely an eye opener. Had no idea that even one fish farm could be so destructive. one thing I would have liked to have seen was more on how the closed containment systems would work and if they themselves could cause other environmental issues.

Does anyone know of a boycott list of restaurants and stores which sell farmed salmon?  I think that we need to raise awareness of who not to patronize so the farms aren't as profitable.

I'm guessing most of the farmed salmon is exported?

Costco sells mostly farmed salmon as well. Though I don't see too many people buying it, they sell volumes of salmon based products as well where they don't specify if it's from farmed or wild salmon.

It'll be interesting to see how the industry is affected now that farmed fish have been deemed an actual fishery (b y Bc Supreme court), and now have to follow all DFO regs. Gonna be some changes coming.

probably won't see a huge difference. Unless these farms move to contained systems.
